Arkansas Ag Real Estate to Developments

Found this table on the American Farmland Trust Website - Found it interesting.  Note this table is old - through 1997.

This is 10 years old.  At the rate that the Northwest Arkansas and Central Arkansas areas have been cut up into subdivisions - the new statistic has to be outrageous.

1992-1997
Agricultural land converted to developed uses (acres)     84,000
Percentage of agricultural land converted to developed uses     1
State rank by percentage of agricultural land converted to developed uses     29
Average annual rate of agricultural land converted to developed uses (acres)     16,800
Prime agricultural land converted to developed uses (acres)     54,600
Rural land converted to developed uses (acres)     171,800
Average annual rate of rural land converted to developed uses (acres)     34,360

Rural Churches in Arkansas - Greenbrier - East

If you have info on this Church please email me by clicking here!

These pictures were taken in March 22, 2007.

The churche is on the corner of Fairview and Herring Road in the North East of Lake Bennett.

The Church did not have a name on it that I found but did appear to be maintained on the inside somewhat as one of the pictures shows through the window.

The church was locked.

Las Palmas - and Mexican in Conway

Las Palmas in the Commons Shopping Center is a great Mexican Food Retaurant. They have come from the Las Palmas in North Little Rock and brought the same food and friendly service.

Three visitors this date and three items.

FEMA Denies Federal Disaster

The head of FEMA has denied a request from Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe for a federal disaster declaration after February's tornadoes. The reason? FEMA says the state and local governments are capable of providing the needed relief.

FEMA Director David Paulison says Governor Beebe specifically asked for federal aid for Desha County and for private individuals, including those who who need temporary housing.

Paulison says the damage to the private sector was not so great and that the state and local governments should be able to take care of it with federal help. U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln says the agency has agreed to work through general services administration to get 30 travel trailers and mobile homes to the county for residents there.

The February 24th storms hurt 27 people in Dumas, Arkansas, destroyed or damaged 150 homes and put at least 800 people out of work. The town was without electricity of days and residents had to boil their drinking water as a health precaution.

Shorty's - Best Burger in Conway

Just came in from long day of work. Needed a good hamburger. Always go to the best little place that is a long time staple in Conway. Shorty's appears to be a dive - but it has class. You step in and order at the counter from things like piggly wiggly fries to an ok bbq sandwich or salad or a great chili cheese dog. But the favorite is just the plain old hamburger.

And what about the class. Simple tables in the center is surrounded by the old restaurant booths. But the class comes from the fact that many of the old vinal booth seats are mended with good ole gray duct tape.

Thats dining with a class.

We give it a 4 star rating for the class that it is in.
