It is great to learn something each day. As you might derive from my blogs Arkansas - A Great Place to Live, Life in Ameirca and my alter ego Blog of Hillbilly Willy, I am aproaching what I would like to be an early retirement. The problem is everyday as I review my investments and my after retirement income - the idea seems to be slipping away.

Well, many days I am researching on the internet ways to make more money for retirement. Well today I discovered the term iron condor as it relates to investments.

What does this mean you ask:

This is n advanced options strategy that involves buying and holding four different options with different strike prices. The iron condor is constructed by holding a long and short position in two different strangle strategies. A strangle is created by buying or selling a call option and a put option with different strike prices, but the same expiration date. The potential for profit or loss is limited in this strategy because an offsetting strangle is positioned around the two options that make up the strangle at the middle strike prices.

Sounds great - but now what you ask?

Well, I have found a website called Condor Options that offers a newsletter and all that you would need to make this type of strategy happen.

Arkansas Razorbacks? - Basketball Season yet?

I have been an Arkansan for 18 years come this Thanksgiving. I thought that I could never live anyplace but Texas. However, moving to Arkansas when my daughter was in the first grade and now she is married, working and making a great young lady, gives me pride that home is where you make it and not the physical boundaries of the state.

In so making this my home, I have also adopted the passion that many have in this state for the Razorbacks. It was first basketball under Nolan Richardson, and then Football under Houston Nutt.

Well, even though I think that Houston Nutt is still an good man, I now question his coaching ability when he goes from having a great pre-season favorite team with high expectations to a mediocre team just looking to maybe get to a poor bowl game.

Yes, it becomes a crazy passion but I believe we need to fire Houston Nutt and get on with the football program.

All I can say now is bring on Basketball.

Mediocre -Razorbacks?

Well, today is a defining moment in the life of the Arkansas Razorbacks. They play South Carolina whom Darren McFadden has had an excellent career running against.

The questions today are:

1. Will Darren have another great day against this team or will he just be mediocre because he is surrounded by a mediocre team.

Will the team come together and play well and define that they really are a good team as expected at the first of the year or will they play as mediocre as they have become.

Will Houston Nutt pull out a good game and thus hush some of the naysayers or will he coach a mediocre game and be done at the end of the year.

If the Razorbacks dont show something today - it is obvious they are not going to show anything.

My guess is mediocre in most cases will shine except that the fearsom three - Hillis, Jones, and McFadden may have flashes of brilliance. Otherwise it will probably be a mediocre game and Houston wont be able to brag that "he called that play"

Stupid Stunts and Good Samaritans!

Ok you say get on with the story. Well, yesterday I was out in the country making inspections on farms for my job. This is one part of the job that I usually enjoy since I am out of the office and not behind a desk.

Well, I had completed my two inspections early and was going down the road back toward a final appointment in town to talk to a man about a loan. Appointment was not for two hours.

Well, the beautiful day and the beautiful fall colors had me mesmerized and as I stared across the country I notice way up on the hill the house of a client that I had not visited in a while.

Plenty of time I said. Think I will stop by and see Buck. Well, I drove down the narrow lane, actually a dike that sliced across a creek to make a nice pond down below his house, to a set of cattle pens where I thought I saw Bucks truck.

When I got to the end of the road, I found that Buck was not there and that the gate was locked. The only retreat was to back my truck up back down the narrow road.

You guessed it. I looked off for a second and the next thing I knew the left wheel had gotten to close to the loose gravel and I had slipped sideways off of the road.

Not too bad you say! Yes, not too bad except that there was a very steep 20 foot drop off and no way to get the truck out without pulling it. Just a little bit of a slip and my nice new truck would be rolling down the hill. It was already so steep that I could hardly get out of the truck.

Well, a call went out from my cell phone to my office to find Bucks cell number. He is always around somewhere. Sure enough I called and he was about a mile off.

To my rescue he came and without questioning my ability or my thoughts, he fired up a tractor and eased me out of the ditch - no damage done except to his tow strap.

It became so wedged into the hitch on the tractor that the only way to get undone was to cut it off. Well, I have gladly replaced his $30 tow strap and even went to a Cattlemens meeting last night that he attended.

He never said a word except to thank me for the new tow strap and insist I should not have replaced it.

Could I have been that good of a Samaritan. Probably would have at least made a little fun of the decisions. Guess I still have a ways to go!

Mt Magazine - Autumn in Arkansas

I am thinking about taking a trip to Mt Magazine to see the fall colors. It would be a great place to see the colors and it is obvious that the colors are about to change.

On a work trip in the edge of the Ozarks the other day, there was beginning to be a hint of red and yellows in the hillsides. There is nothing much prettier than Arkansas during fall.

Arkansas Razorbacks - Win Again!

The Razorbacks pulled off a big win against Floriday International High School Who would have thought that they could win so big. Final score 58 -10. Yes Arkansas scored big. Had lots of big plays.

Interesting thing though is - even though the defense came up big, if I am not mistaking this is the most this team has scored any many games. I dont understand that. Maybe our defense only looked so good because it was like a high school team.

Well, next week we get to go against a Carolina team that should have been a big game but they lost one that they shouldnt have and now it is not even going to be on TV.

Well - there is always next year and maybe without Houston Nutt!

Ever made a smashed penny?

I am always crazy about nostalgia and one of the things that always attracts me is the penny press machine; used to smash, squish, and elongate pennies and foreign coins. You know the the ones that when you get through you have a souvenir of the place you have been.

I remember using a penny machine at Six Flags several years ago. I know that penny is around here somewhere. Man that brings back memories of times gone by. It is amazing how a little thing like a mashed penny could stir the thoughts and memories.

Yes - I remember - we were out enjoying a vacation with the daughter - she is grown now - taking in the rides, the fun the enjoyment. We saw this machine with the big hand crank and the bubble on top that said we could put in a penny and out would come a memory a replica of the train I believe.

Well we did and I guess a memory did come out - cause look at me now talking about it. Boy those were good days.

Well just a few months ago I saw one of these coin press machines. Cant even remember where it was(that memory goes with age you know), but I remember that something about it drew me near and caused me to talk about "Remember When" with my wife.

Yes - we have on schedule today one of the greatest high school teams in the nation. Florida International. How can this be you ask. Why would we play someone so far away when we have some formidable teams in state that Arkansas could play.

There is the old "Why doesnt Arkansas play Arkansas State" - that would make sense and would draw a crowd.

And now there is the "Why doesnt Arkansas play University of Central Arkansas" Yea - Arkansas might win, but they would see a great quarterback in Nathan Brown. and there would be lots of state interest.

Did I say that I believe it is time for Houston to go.

Booing is no longer the issue. The wording on the banner, the color of shirts in the stands, the haters from the north all pale in comparison to the fact that Arkansas is simply not getting things done on the field. Whether we pass on first down and who is injured really doesn’t matter anymore.

Instead of looking at what few things have worked this season and trying to build upon them he instead looks Razorback nation in the eye and dares us to knock him down.

Maybe last year when all of the text messaging was going on - maybe SHE was telling you what plays to run. If so get HER back. Lets run some Wild Hog or Wild Cat or anything Wild - We arent running anything wilder that maybe looking like three midget hogs in a weiner roast fight. (not sure what that meant)

Houston - you are what is keeping us from having a coach.

This is what everyone is saying - Houston does not have a clue how to call the offensive plays. He has hired David Lee to call the plays but does not seem to be letting him do his job.

Many think the the only reason David Lee was hired was to offset the fact the Malzahn left.

Houston really didnt want an offensive coordinator but thought this would keep everyone off his back.

Many small business owners forget that there are certain requirements they have to meet when setting up corporation. One of such requirement is to held regular meeting of shareholders and directors. Keeping the records and minutes is very important. For example IRS will require to see them. It is amazing how a sports team can appear before season to have so much talent and so much reason to really do good, can become so disappointing.

Prior to this season starting, the Arkanas Razorbacks had the state in a buzz. The team has the runner up for the Heisman last year and has great running back talent surrounding him.

There was a great deal of controversy in the off season about a certain coach and a certain great quarterback potential leaving after last season. There were off season law suits against the coach which all seemed meaningless but yet distracting.

Yes, this team has all the right reasons pre-season to have a great year.

Well, this past Saturday, the team walked into War Memorial Stadium with all the right reasons and talent to kick tale on a small college team that should have not been as challenging as playing a good high school team.

Arkansas squeaked out with a win!

Is there any excitement left to the season - medocrity has got to go.

The Circus is Coming to Town! Peta complains!

No it is not the big Ringling Circus, but it is probably closer to what the original circus was like. The fairgrounds will be filled by the "big top" which is actually pulled up by use of the circus elephants.

Three rings are set up inside the big tent and the animals, clowns and trapeze acts perform.

It is a shame although somewhat funny that PETA has decided to protest. They are saying that the elephants are trained by using cruel instruments such as large hooks or prods to make them learn to do their tricks.

Have you ever seen cattle loaded into a chute with a cattle prod?

Have you ever seen a jockey use a whip on the backside of the winning horse around the last curve?

I have been nominated by Texas Fred to be a member of his cabinet in his bid for the Presidency.

Razorbacks - We Win!

Its about time. The Razorbacks finally pulled out a big win - over almost a no name team. A powder puff team got beat big time by the Razorbacks.

It appears that everything came together in this game. The quarterback threw some great passes. The ends and backs caught some great passes.

Darren McFadden and Felix Jones ran wild in first half and were cheerleaders from the sideline in the second half.

Is this a new beginning for the Razorbacks - or just a mediocre college team beating up on a poor college team.

Time will tell!

Arkansas Razorbacks - What is the Matter

The big talk right now is "Can Houston Nutt coach!" The talk shows are all about it. The newspapers are writing about it. The poeple are talking about it! It is the talk around the water cooler.

Arkansas has last years Heisman runner up - and he is looking good. As good as you can look while carrying the rest of the team on your back. Arkansas also has the one of the best kickoff return men in the country and possibly the second best back in the country.

What aint they got! They dont have a quarterback or a secondary. If you cant throw the ball occassionally and if you cant stop the other team from passing occassionally, you cant win consistently.

Help! Houston We have a problem!

I've been trying to say this since 9-11, but you worry me. I wish you didn't. I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your color and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country.

But you don't blend in anymore. I notice you, and it worries me. I notice you because I can't help it anymore. People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don't fully understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

On September 11, nineteen ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants, and children's mothers.

The Palestinians Celebrated, the Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So, I notice you now. I don't want to be worried. I don't want to be consumed by the same rage and hate and prejudice that have destroyed the soul of these terrorists. But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.

How do I differentiate between the true Arab / Muslim-Americans and the Arab Muslim terrorists in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter these same good neighbors and children?

The events of September 11th changed the answer. It is not my responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.

I want to know, I demand to know, and I have a right to know, whether or not you love America? Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car? Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation, that He will protect and prosper it? Or do you pray that Allah will destroy it in one of your Jihads? Are you thankful for the freedom that only this nation affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots who gave their lives for this country? Are you willing to preserve this freedom by also paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America?

If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about it.

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions you are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America.

Please, no more benign overtures of regret for the death of the innocent because I worry about who you regard as innocent. No more benign overtures of condemnation for the unprovoked attacks because I worry about what is unprovoked to you. I am not interested in any more sympathy. I am only interested in action.

What will you do for America - our great country - at this time of crisis, at this time of war?

I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting "Allah Bless America " I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time, and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole.

The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize right now in Muslim communities. You know them. You know where they are. Hand them over to us, now! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action. Instead I have seen an already closed and

secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals. The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating.

They seemed more concerned with making sure that the United States proves who was responsible before taking action. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with supporting our country and denouncing "leaders" like

Khadafi, Hussein, Farrakhan, and Arafat.

If the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people, then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good, and pure, and true, when your "leaders" are teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance?

It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if huge numbers of the world's Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated

to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world. A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after a year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great United States of America, the

country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.

We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us: Our rights under the greatest constitution in the world.

I want to know where every Arab Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to demand it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very constitution that is protecting you and your family. I am pleading with you to let me know.

I want you here as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American.

But there can be no gray areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand. Until then. "YOU WORRY ME!"

Razorbacks - No Game Today

Well, I guess we will have to wait another week and then we can really test the Razorbacks with Peyton, Darren, and Felix. The Question is can these three continue to carry the team when we dont have a passing game.

Visit Lake DeGray

I was able a few weeks ago to visit one of the beautiful lakes in Arkansas. Also, had the opportunity while there to play a nice golf course. If you have not visited Lake DeGray you should go and stay at the Lodge and take in the lake and the area.

The lodge was very accomodating and fairly nice. The lake is beautiful and as always, being in Arkansas the landscape was wonderful.

It was a little hot on the golf course. Played at 2:00 in the afternoon at 101 degrees.

Well, it was not really a contest for the Hogs to win their opener against Troy....or was it. Yes, Arkansas won by 20 points, but seemed to struggle greatly in the first half.

No surprise that Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis did what they do best. Take care of business. Still the concerns are the defense and the quartback.

When will we have a quarterback show up. Or were we just holding back to let it all go for the Alabama game.

I guess we will wait and see!

Today is opening Day

Take it for what you want. Two things happened today that is significant for Arkansas RedNecks and many others.

Today is the opening of Dove season -
it is too hot to hunt but they are out there.

Shotguns drawn and blazing in the air over every available water
hole. The mighty hunt is on at daylight. Around lunch time the
hunters will adjourn to a common place. They will grill up their
dove breasts with a little bacon wrap. Some will partake of adult
beverages.

The talk will soon turn to deer season coming up or razorback football.

The only reason that people will not be at the dove hunt today if they are any kind of hunter is the fact that they went to Northwest Arkansas to see the second thing that starts today.

And you can be sure as they tailgate before the game today - two things will be discussed.. Razorback football. How they really enjoy dove hunting "maybe" and for sure - upcoming deer season.

When deer season comes it is predicted that on opening day of gun season there will be over 300,000 people in the woods. That is more than the population of Little Rock
