Old Washington State Park - Have you been there?

History of the Park

Washington, Arkansas was founded in 1824 on the legendary Southwest Trail that connected St. Louis, Missouri, to the nearby Fulton Landing on the Red River. This route was one of the eight major trails that pioneers traveled on their way to Texas and the Great Southwest. Washington was a thriving community and a major service center for area farmers and plantation owners. Washington was the cultural, political and economic center of Southwest Arkansas

Historic structures open for touring include the:
Crouch House (c. 1857)
Hempstead County Courthouse (c. 1836)
Printing Museum (c. 1915)
Purdom House (c, 1850)

Arkansas Travelers

Arkansas Travelers Baseball team is a farm team for the Angels.

Today they had one of their own get taken up to the Angels.  Skipped the farm team - AAA and went straight up because of an injury to someone else.

Can you tell me who it was.

Just a short quiz.

Home Security for Trucker Alabama.

Where is Trucker Alabama?  I do not know do you?  Maybe you live there and maybe you might want to know more about having a home security for trucker.   If you live there or most anywhere in the United States and you are worried about your home security then you might want to contact Advanced Direct Security.  They can help you with all of your security needs.

This might really be important if you have a great big screen hooked up with Direct TV .  This would give you a better peace of mind if you are away from home. You would have experts watching out for your big screen and the rest of the things in your home.  They will let you know if anyone attempts to get into your home or if there is any breach of your home by unauthorized visitors.

This is a great peace of mind.  This is something that can make you enjoy your vacation or any other time away from home.  Peace of mind is very important.  This can give you that peace of mind.

This is my thoughts for now.

Holiday over.

Fourth of July is over and hopefully no one blew off a finger or set off a massive wildfire.   It was a quiet holiday for us.  Very little excitement.  A burger, ice cream, and family was pretty much what we did.

Most excitement we had was that a neighbor decided to have a great fireworks display.  I was outside taking a few pictures from my driveway which is three doors down.  Suddenly, car lights came on from about three blocks away and a police car with lights flaring came racing up the street to the fireworks display area.

Neighbor had a great conversation with the police officer.  Police officer then raced off to his next criminal around the corner.  Must have been a slow night for real crime.

That is my thoughts for now.

Parent’s Choice Infant Formula Savings Sweepstakes

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of PBM Products for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Arkansas is the original home of Walmart.  Walmart has grown to be a big company.  Many people complain that big companies don't do good things but many times Walmart is known to be different from that.   Walmart has helped many families with their private label infant formula which is known as Parent's Choice Infant Formula.  This has provided great infant nutrition at affordable prices.  This has been a good relationship.

Now another chapter in this is being written.  Parent's Choice will help one student and one family with the launch of the Parent’s Choice Infant Formula Savings Sweepstakes.  Yes, Parent's Choice in conjunction with PBM Products, LLC, a Perrigo company will ge giving one winner $10,000 college scholarship in the form of a College Savings 529 plan.  How great is that to be a company that possibly provided the infant formula for a young child and now to maybe provide a college savings plan for that same child.

So, if you are interested in this formula and want more information or if you are interested in entering this sweepstakes then you should visit this site and complete the necessary information.  It could mean a college education for your child.  Now that is a good thing done by a big company.

Did I mention that the date of the Sweepstakes is June 15th to August 1st.  That is important to know.  Make that deadline if you can.  This could mean an education.

Farmers Market - Conway

Nothing like a good festive atmosphere and good produce, canned goods and homemade articles at the Conway Farmers Market.

I was able to make it there this morning and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the goods that were available.  Everything from Squash to Kale.  It all looked good.  The vendors were upbeat and enjoying what they do.  I also met a couple of young ladies from Horseshoe Mountain in Greenbrier.  One was thirteen and said that her birthday was next week.  She was a joy to talk to.

There was also an entertainer who was providing music.  Great time.

Go enjoy.

Pink Skies Over the Neighborhood

Out messing with my camera because there was nothing else to do.  I told my wife that we were going to have to move to the country so I could have a better Palette for my pictures.

However, when I brought the pictures back to the computer the one below at least had some redeeming value.

Spring

Where oh where has the cool spring gone.  The heat is horrible here in Arkansas.  Willy wishes he were up on the Buffalo River and in a canoe.  Might not be cooler but it would be funner.

If you have never been on the Buffalo - it is the only River in the United States that is a National Park. Check it out online and then come to Arkansas and check it out!

But here I stand in the garden deluxe Watching it grow you wouldn't say sucks I guess I should be thankful And not b a jerk. Anything at home or play surely beats work

What a great day it would to be on the river.  Regardless of the generation and the height of the river it would be great to be there.

What do you think?

Why Fox Is My Favorite Sports Network

Contributed by Vickie Tyson

I enjoy watching a lot of pro football, particularly NFC games. Fox covers the NFC and does an excellent job of it. The pregame show that features James Brown, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, and Jimmy Johnson is my favorite one to watch. When I turn on my satellite TV from www.tvbydirect.com/ on Sunday morning, I find that they always give the best analysis.

As far as game commentary goes, I don't think there is a better duo out there than Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Joe is a seasoned announcer with a smooth voice and a good eye, and Troy's experience as a Super Bowl-winning quarterback allows him to give insights that lesser players may not understand.

Fox also has top-notch post-game coverage that always keeps me up to date on everything else happening in the games I didn't watch. I find Howie Long to be especially an especially lucid and thoughtful commentator, providing a in-depth look at things from the perspective of an honest (and very talented) former player.

For the best in NFL coverage, I always choose Fox, and hey, how can you go wrong with a station that has a performing robot animation (Cletus) on the sides of the screen?

SMALL TOWNS

Those who grew up in small towns will laugh when they read this.

Those who didn't will be in disbelief and won't understand how true it is.

1) You can name everyone you graduated with.

2) You know what 4-H means.

3) You went to parties at a pasture, barn, gravel pit, or in the middle of a dirt road. On Monday
you could always tell who was at the party because of the scratches on their legs from running through the woods when the party was busted. (See #6.)

4) You used to'drag'Main .

5) You whispered the 'F' word and your parents knew within the hour.

Over the next few weeks I am going to highlight many of the festivals and fairs around Arkansas.  These will lead a person around the state and let them know the fun and the beauty of this state.  Many of these are on the list that I would like to visit.

Cheering on my team with my friends

Guest post written by Dawn Grant

I've made several friends over the years just from finding out that they're really big college basketball fans too. Somehow I figure out whether they are or not when I first meet them. It always comes out. I haven't really seen that many of my friends since the holidays though just because our schedules have been so busy. So I'm looking forward to this party even more.

I decided to try and find some good recipes to serve for the party because I want it to be extra special and have something else besides just chips and dip like at most of these types of parties. I want my gues! ts to enjoy both the game and the food. While I was looking up some recipes online, I found some information about enery packages and decided to sign up for one of them for our home energy service.

I've already planned to make some pulled pork BBQ sandwiches for my NCAA tournament watch party, along with some of my special homemade onion rings.

Legend of Kung Fu Package Deal

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Everyone is Kung Fu Overnightin’- Huh! Come stay at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing and the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel and see Legends of Kung Fu Show. Wow!  I live three hours from Branson and who would have thought that I would have been writing about Kung Fu Package Deal.  Yes, the reason I write about this is the fact that it is happening at one of my favorite places, Branson, and at one of my favorite places to stay there which is Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing.  Yes, my family thinks that this is a great place to stay in Branson.

Staying at the  Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing while in Branson is a treat.  It is even a greater treat to be able to stay there while enjoying the great things to do at Branson such as the shows and the great attractions at Branson.  Some of the things that we are thinking about trying out this year are things that will appeal to me and the wife such as  the 70’s Supershow feat with The Village People and Lynard Skynyrd and ZZ Top Concert.  How much fun will that be for us old folks.  However, to even it out for the younger generation we will probably throw in something like Silver Dollar City Blue Grass & BBQ and something they always enjoy which is White Water which opens July 1 this year.

So, fun for the oldies and fun for the younger ones and a Kung Fu Show also.  How can any of this be wrong in Branson.

Something for everyone is what Branson has.  Check it out.
