This is a great state, sometimes quirky, sometimes interesting, sometimes strange.

Sales Tax Reprieve for Arkansas
Arkansan's received a gift from the state government starting today, August 1. The sales tax on grocery items was cut in half from 6% to 3% if my understanding is correct. Wow! Way to go!
In giving this gift to the consumer the government caused a rift of problems for the grocery markets. Take Walmart for instance. If a product can be consumed as a food product by an individual then the tax was lowered or dropped. However, if that food product had some form of cooked preparation prior to the consumer purchase then it was taxed at a different level. In question-something from the deli. If it was a cooked chicken then the tax was one thing. If it was deli meat it was another. And thus is the problem throughout the store.
It is my understanding that it took several weeks and thousands of dollars to get the programing right on the cash register. But what is worse, the typical consumer will not have an idea if it is being done right or wrong. This can only be known at the inspection oversight of the government.
Government--- Cant make anything simple.
Just my thoughts.
