Farmers Market - Conway

Nothing like a good festive atmosphere and good produce, canned goods and homemade articles at the Conway Farmers Market.

I was able to make it there this morning and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the goods that were available.  Everything from Squash to Kale.  It all looked good.  The vendors were upbeat and enjoying what they do.  I also met a couple of young ladies from Horseshoe Mountain in Greenbrier.  One was thirteen and said that her birthday was next week.  She was a joy to talk to.

There was also an entertainer who was providing music.  Great time.

Go enjoy.

Pink Skies Over the Neighborhood

Out messing with my camera because there was nothing else to do.  I told my wife that we were going to have to move to the country so I could have a better Palette for my pictures.

However, when I brought the pictures back to the computer the one below at least had some redeeming value.

Spring

Where oh where has the cool spring gone.  The heat is horrible here in Arkansas.  Willy wishes he were up on the Buffalo River and in a canoe.  Might not be cooler but it would be funner.

If you have never been on the Buffalo - it is the only River in the United States that is a National Park. Check it out online and then come to Arkansas and check it out!

Life today

I guess life is good right where I am at But it really doesn't seem to be the what I expect from life. I have dreams of havin something like a boat And down the river I should float. But here I stand in the garden deluxe Watching it grow you wouldn't say sucks I guess I should be thankful And not b a jerk. Anything at home or play surely beats work

What a great day it would to be on the river.  Regardless of the generation and the height of the river it would be great to be there.

What do you think?

Why Fox Is My Favorite Sports Network

Contributed by Vickie Tyson

I enjoy watching a lot of pro football, particularly NFC games. Fox covers the NFC and does an excellent job of it. The pregame show that features James Brown, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, and Jimmy Johnson is my favorite one to watch. When I turn on my satellite TV from www.tvbydirect.com/ on Sunday morning, I find that they always give the best analysis.

As far as game commentary goes, I don't think there is a better duo out there than Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Joe is a seasoned announcer with a smooth voice and a good eye, and Troy's experience as a Super Bowl-winning quarterback allows him to give insights that lesser players may not understand.

Fox also has top-notch post-game coverage that always keeps me up to date on everything else happening in the games I didn't watch. I find Howie Long to be especially an especially lucid and thoughtful commentator, providing a in-depth look at things from the perspective of an honest (and very talented) former player.

For the best in NFL coverage, I always choose Fox, and hey, how can you go wrong with a station that has a performing robot animation (Cletus) on the sides of the screen?

SMALL TOWNS

Those who grew up in small towns will laugh when they read this.

Those who didn't will be in disbelief and won't understand how true it is.

1) You can name everyone you graduated with.

2) You know what 4-H means.

3) You went to parties at a pasture, barn, gravel pit, or in the middle of a dirt road. On Monday
you could always tell who was at the party because of the scratches on their legs from running through the woods when the party was busted. (See #6.)

4) You used to'drag'Main .

5) You whispered the 'F' word and your parents knew within the hour.

Festivals in Arkansas

Over the next few weeks I am going to highlight many of the festivals and fairs around Arkansas.  These will lead a person around the state and let them know the fun and the beauty of this state.  Many of these are on the list that I would like to visit.

I moved from Texas about 20 years ago and I do find Arkansas fun and beautiful.  Take in the festivals and come visit Arkansas.

Cheering on my team with my friends

Guest post written by Dawn Grant

I've made several friends over the years just from finding out that they're really big college basketball fans too. Somehow I figure out whether they are or not when I first meet them. It always comes out. I haven't really seen that many of my friends since the holidays though just because our schedules have been so busy. So I'm looking forward to this party even more.

I decided to try and find some good recipes to serve for the party because I want it to be extra special and have something else besides just chips and dip like at most of these types of parties. I want my gues! ts to enjoy both the game and the food. While I was looking up some recipes online, I found some information about enery packages and decided to sign up for one of them for our home energy service.

I've already planned to make some pulled pork BBQ sandwiches for my NCAA tournament watch party, along with some of my special homemade onion rings.
