Close to Home

We never understand why, or how something like the V. T. incident can happen. There are all kinds of theories, speculations, and especially arm chair hindsight. But what we do know that there are great feelings of pain and despair by many families and friends of the victims of yesterdays shootings.

It really never seeks in however, until you receive the notice that it is hurting someone close to home. It is easy to sit by the T.V. and believe that you hurt for those that are suffering, but when you get notice that someone you know has kin that were victims of the shooting, it seems to sink in a little more.

This is the feeling that we experience as we find the one of the victims is the cousin of someone in my Sunday School Class. It still does not create the ache that it would if it were you own son or daughter, but it does bring it close to home.

We must always pray for and remember these people. It also brings back the memories to me of 9-11. How quickly we began to forget the hurt that we shared as a nation. How quickly we turn to being critical of the war and the President who has such a big burden of decisions on his shoulders.

What can we do?

Remember and Pray!
