Jim Grobe - Arkansas Coach - No Way -

Well, it seems you folks out there just dont want to listen to my valid sources that it is now Mike Leach or Gus Malzahn.

Now they are saying that the leading candidate is Wake Forest's Jim Grobe who has emerged in the desperate Search for Arkansas Football Coach

Who is this guy anyway. Well he is Wake Forest Coach Jim Grobe. Grobe is 55 and is in his seventh year at the private, ACC school. Grobe has a mediocre record at 45-39 with the Demon Deacons, including 8-4 this year. He was selected as The Associated Press Coach of the Year in 2006. But what have you done for me lately we ask.

Well , Wake Forest is scheduled to face Connecticut in the Meineke Bowl in Charlotte on Dec. 29

Meineke - wait a minute - is that a muffler. Well, I think that means you can probably blow this rumor out the wazoo. It aint happening.

This is all just a smoke screen until they can clear the way for Mike Leach or Gus Malzahn.

Check back for an updated story and get ready to give it up Texas Tech Fans in Lubbock Texas.

Hillbilly is right. Looks like that sh%^-bag of a school got Grobe. This is the luckiest day in the history of that place.

You guys have more kids on the payroll than we have students at Wake Forest, yet we went to the Orange Bowl last year. Yeah so who is Jim Grobe. The best coach Arkansas will ever lay their hands on.

Wow... that's kind of harsh wake fans. I have nothing bad to say about your school or your coach. Why do you think that Arkansas is such a "bumfuk" "hillbilly" place. Just so you know, I attend the college of business at Arkansas and we are ranked the 23rd best business college in the nation. Before you make accusations, know your facts. Northwest arkansas is in the top 10 growing regions of the United States as well. Not bad at all for a "bumfuk""hillbilly" place. Good luck on your coaching search!

I have read other AU message boards who are crying foul about getting Grobe. What all of you in razorback land fail to see is that Grobe took a team that couldn't beat Duke to the conference title and although I do agree the SEC is a stronger football conference than the ACC, It has credibility.
The bottom line is that you should be thankful he will be on your side and not on the other sideline. Think about Wake and the talent pool that is available to them. Not too deep, and still he finds a way to win.

Don't trash AR unless you know the place...I came to do a short stint to build the resume...that was 25 years ago.
Last poster right...Grobe has done great at Wake with the talent pool, we have it easy at UA, pro prospects know their chances to get to the next level are better here....
Wake's loss would be our gain.

I left the first comment and I have a couple of things to clarify.

1)The reference to Hillbilly was of course in reference to the gentleman who posted the initial piece. It was NOT a dig on AR. I am sure its a great place.

2)Hillbilly Willy deserves every bit he got in my first comment and the ones that followed. Jim Grobe took an extremely mediocre program to the Orange Bowl. I don't know if the information ever reached most of you, but Wake Forest has is a school of about 3,500 students. Grobe took us to the Orange Bowl against the likes of FSU, Miami, and VaTech. So yes, you deserve criticism when you write a statement saying he is not worthy, it will never happen, blah blah blah. Well check the news, you are dead wrong Hillbilly.

Now I know that your Hogs fans are going to say. The ACC sucks, the SEC rules, on and on. But the fact is, the last time you made a BCS bowl was 1986 -- 21 years ago. Its not as if Grobe is putting your dynasty in danger or something.

I am certain that our loss is your gain. But please don't go getting all NC State on us and acting like your program is such a prized job. Its definitely a step us as much as it pains me to say so.

And FYI, I didn't go to Wake on a trust fund. HogFan1 is that all you've got. Did you even go to UA? Little Rock Tech doesn't count.
