Mike Leach? Tommy Tuberville?

I went back to my prognosticator Willy today to see why all of the rumors were flying about Tuberville coming to the University of Arkansas to coach the razorbacks. Willy was animate that I did not hear everything that he had to say yesterday about who was coming to coach.

Willy says that the real truth is that Tuberville is in the state duck hunting and that this means that if the duck hunt is good that he will be the next coach. But if the hunt is not good, then Mike Leach will be the new coach.

It is kind of like the groundhog in February seeing his shadow. Good hunt - Tommy comes over. Bad Hunt Tommy takes his load of money at Auburn and Mike Leach comes over.

So there you have it. Who will it be.

What was the duck hunting like today guys. Did anybody see Tuberville at the World's Duck Calling contest in Stuttgart.

It is hard at this time to blog about something else than Houston Nutt who went to his new job at Ole Miss yesterday and said the same things he said at Arkansas except changed the words from Razorbacks to Rebels and Arkansas to Ole Miss. - News conference sounded just like one he had in Arkansas.



But that is not what I was going to write about - it is easy to digress.

But more importantly most have declared that again Mike Huckabee gained great ground in last nights debates. As stated in this Telegraph.co.Uk

New Coach is a Cinch! Mike Leach

I have it on good sources from Hillbilly Willy who once carried out Frank Broyles garbage. Willy says that even though he might make a good weatherman, Mike Leach will be or is the new football coach at the University of Arkansas.

Willy has only been wrong on his predictions once since he starting prognosticating. His only wrong prediction was that Billie Gillispie was coming to Arkansas. Well, that was the start of Willys career and he has only one wrong to date. None out of one aint bad.

Arkansas Razorbacks and Reggie Herring

I love this guy. I don't know that I would want him as head coach, but he could sure be head communicator.

Everytime he gets in front of a microphone or a camera he comes off good and is very entertaining. Maybe that is what we need. Some of the Nutt haters say that the game was not entertaining enough. Well, I bet it would be under Reggie.

Well, enough of that. I will reveal a little later who my sources say is already in the clubhouse as a done deal.

Tommy Tuberville - Stay Away Arkansas

Much like they did when they wanted a new basketball coach and tried to hire the coach from Texas A & M, Billy Gillispie, Arkansas went calling to Tuberville since he had been the real first choice ten years ago.

However, sources say that when Arkansas came calling Tommy used it as leverage to get contract negotiations to commence for a longer contract. Rumor has it that Tommy would like Arkansas to be the job he takes after the next coach quits in about five years.

This way Tommy would be in the state he loves and where he wants to retire as his last stint in coaching. He would let the University of Arkansas move him home in about 5 to 7 years. He would coach for about 5 years and retire.

Who will the next coach now. I believe Arkansas will be taking one from Texas Tech.

Well, it is official ...Houston is gone. He seems real sad to go. Hope he will still have grocery money to feed the family until his gig at Ole Miss comes up.

He is a good guy -- just a little too self centered, egotistical and not that great of a play caller. Did some one say 4th and goal and Darren is not in the Ball game. Glad Felix is tough.

Razorbacks Win - Bye Houston Nutt!

Most Arkansans willthink that Arkansas is a great place to live since Arkansas Razorbacks knocked off the number 1 LSU Tigers. The next big question will be if this saves Houston Nutts job.

Many of the Houston backers will say that this shows just what they had said which is that Houston is a great coach. Those who hate Houston will say Why hasnt he done this all along.

My thoughts are - He has made many bad decisions all year and I believe that with a few different calls in this ballgame he would not have had to go into overtime to win. He could have won it early.

And one thing that I will never understand is why so many times in crucial plays he has Darren McFadden on the sidelines.

LED Christmas lights save energy

Tomorrow is a big day. It is traditionally the day that I put up the Christmas lights. It is the day that I pull out the old lights and try to decide how they go on the house and in the shrubs. It is the day that I get to decide if this is the year I get new lights.

Well, the old lights are incandescent holiday lights. You know-the type that have been around for more than 100 years. These lights are outdated, inefficient, expensive, and bad for the environment.

So what do I do. I discover the idea of LED Christmas lights. These new lights use 1/10th of the energy of standard incandescent Christmas lights and will last for more than 50,000 hours compared to about 1500 for an average incandescent light. The LED bulbs are also very durable as they do not contain a fragile filament and the bulbs are constructed of a durable epoxy plastic no breakable glass. These lights create virtually no heat so they are safer for use on Christmas trees and around other combustible materials.

It is good to know in studying LED Christmas lights that a recent EPA report determined that if only 20% of American households switched to LED Christmas lights for the average 30 day holiday period it would conserve enough energy to power 200 households for an entire year.

Who is Mike Huckabee?

Mike Huckabee is running a good race for President. But who is Mike Huckabee? What do we know about him?

I know him as a Baptist Minister, leader of the Baptist State Convention, Bass Guitar player, and Governor of Arkansas. I know him as a good man who would make a good president.

But what are the background facts. Here is what Wikipedia says:

Michael Dale "Mike" Huckabee (born August 24, 1955) is a former governor of the U.S. state of Arkansas, having served from 1996 to 2007. He was the third Republican governor of the state since Reconstruction and was the highest rated political figure in Arkansas for parts of his tenure.[1] He officially announced his candidacy for the 2008 United States presidential election on January 28, 2007, and he has been running a national campaign since then.

Huckabee is an ordained Southern Baptist minister. He is well known for losing 110 pounds in a very short time and advocating a healthy lifestyle.[2]

Huckabee was born in Hope, Arkansas, to Mae Elder and Dorsey W. Huckabee. His father worked as a fireman and a mechanic and his mother worked as a clerk in a gas company.[3] He has one sister who is a middle school teacher.[4] He was elected Governor of Arkansas Boys State in 1972 and is a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Alumnus. He was president of Hope High School in 1973.[5] He married Janet McCain on May 25, 1974. At 23, Huckabee was a staffer for James Robison, a television evangelist.[5] Robison commented, "His convictions shape his character and his character will shape his policies. His whole life has been shaped by moral absolutes."[5] Huckabee believes in Biblical inerrancy.[5] Prior to his political career, Huckabee was pastor of several Southern Baptist churches in Arkadelphia, Texarkana, and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He encouraged the all white Immanuel Baptist Church to accept black members.[5] He served as president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from 1989 to 1991 and as president of a religion-oriented television station

What does all of that really say or mean. It says that Huckabee is a good man with a good background who would make a good President.

Thanksgiving is a great day in spite of the turkey. You might think from that statement that I do not like turkey. Well the truth is I like turkey ok but it is not my favorite food. I like turkey because of all of the other food that seems to be present only when you have turkey.

Mike Huckabee and Me on Immigration

I am a strong opposer of illegal immigrants. The reason I am is that I am a strong opposer of "illegal". I have nothing against the people, their work ethics or anything else except the fact that we should not allow an illegal activity take place without strong action. I oppose the current immigration bill that the Senate is considering because it offers amnesty. While I appreciate the hard work of the Senate and the Administration, this bill is not in the best interests of our national security, our citizens, and those who are patiently following the rules to become citizens.

Abilene Texas Real Estate!

I was born and raised in the state of Texas and have always been interested in real estate in the state of Texas. I am a real estate lender by trade and look at real estate all of the time.

Yes, I now live in Arkansas, but prior to moving to Arkansas I lived in a small town just outside of Abilene Texas. This gave me many opportunities to review and viewAbilene TX real estate. Because of this, I fairly familar with Abilene TX real estate and might even go back there someday to live.

I do have a close kin who just moved from Abilene and did own some Abilene TX real estate . It has now been sold and they have moved back to another city.

Huck and Chuck - Going to Kick Rear!

Mike Huckabee is bringing in the guns now. I guess this is supposed to be good to bring in the movie star/exercise guru/kick it champion in for an endorsement.

Maybe this would be a good team. Huck for President and Chuck for Vice President. If the people didn't like the policy set then Chuck could come in with white hat and guns blazing.

Seriously - I am a Huckabee fan, but I am not sure that this helps. We will See.

Weekend Warrior - Tell Freeze It Where it Hurts!

Well, opening weekend of modern gun deer season just past in Arkansas. For those of you who don't understand what that means, let me tell you a little. Deer hunting in Arkansas is a ritual of both men and women. The majority of the people that live in Arkansas, breathe and eat deer hunting and the only reason for real existence is to hunt deer.

Being the true hunter he is as you can see in the picture, Willy had gone to deer camp on Friday night as to get an early jump on the deer on Saturday Morning. Well, way before dawn on opening day Willy walks the mile to his tree stand, legs and back aching even more than usual. For you see that cot at camp was not near as comfortable as the great bed Willy has at home. Willy gets to the tree stand and gingerly climbs the 13 rickety steps up to the top so he could set on that small seat for the next several hours waiting for that big buck.

Willy sat on the stand till about 10 oclock and the day seemed long and dreary. Not a deer had Willy seen, much less that trophy buck. Willy's back and legs were aching to no end. "Man if I don't see one soon I am getting down and going back to camp. " About that time Willy heard a limb crunch in the woods to his left. Willy eased around with his gun moving very slowly as not to frighten anything that might be there. "Man, that is a nice 8 point buck" . Willy eases the safety off of his gun and "bam" the deer falls in his tracks.

Well, Willy takes a couple of deep breaths to calm his excitement and turns to climb down the 13 rickety steps of his deer stand. Willy was down to step 4 from the bottom when it gave way. Willy falls back onto the ground, gun pointed in the air and as his aching back hit the ground the gun fired again into the air. This scared Willy to death, but he could do nothing about it because he was stunned by the fall.

Willy layed on the ground for about 5 minutes back and legs in misery. He thought for a minute he had really hurt himself. Well, his friends came running from their stands because they had heard the second, curious shot and thought Willy might need some help.

Being the friends that they were, they first helped Willy back to camp along with his deer. Then they began to give Willy fits about his old, aching body, and his deer stand to match.

Kaley Hill Missionary Baptist Church

This is a neat smaller Church out in the country Northeast of Quitman. The Pastor of this Church used to be a neighbor of mine. He is a great young man. I had heard that he was pastoring a Church but did not know where it was at. I just stumbled on to this Church while I was driving in the country on business.

Looks like it is in a great place and these folks are lucky to have this young man as their pastor.

The product that I found while I was looking at their website was salt & pepper shakers that hug. Wish I had received a set of those - what a great Christmas gift that would have been.

For anyone in Arkansas that lives in a cave and hears no news, my guess is that you don't read this blog either, so why do I write. To all of you as mentioned - today you should know is an important day for Houston Nutt and the Razorbacks.

The question is can they win another game and get a good Bowl Bid - or will they just turn out to be known as the team who had the two greatest running back tandem at Arkansas and did nothing with it.

That is what frustrates all of the fans. Great talent, great ability, great athlete desire, poor coaching, poor play calling. What more needs to be said.

Mike Huckabee - the Man for the Job

I expect that it will change the course of the campaign trail for me to make this declaration. I am off of the Fred bandwagon and on the bandwagon I should have been on all along.

The reason I had not jumped on with Mike before is that I did not think he had a snowballs chance to win. Well, it may still be a slim chance but it is better than it used to be. And yes, I have experienced Mr. Huckabee as a Baptist Preacher (a good one) Leader of the Arkansas Baptist Convention ( a good one) and a Governor of the state of Arkansas ( a good one.)

Houston Nutt - Gets Gus Light Award - Real Men of Genius!

I am a proponent of Firing Houston Nutt. After yesterday's lackluster performance at Tennessee - It is obvious that Arkansas must fire Houston Nutt!

A great example of questionable coaching comes when there is 4th and inches, Arkansas has three of the greatest running backs in college football today and we put the lesser one of them on the field by himself to run into what would undoubtly be a sea of orange.

Peyton Hillis - thanks for the effort - not your fault - What was the coach thinking. Put everyone of your great backs out there and give Tennessee three choices of who to stop.

Autumn in Arkansas

Autumn in Arkansas is a great time of the year.

The weather has turned a little cooler and we have even had a little frost on the Pumpkin. The days are in the mid 60's right now and the colors outside are beginning to be beautiful

I had the chance the other day to take a drive through my territory. I dont believe the colors are going to be as good as they have been some years, but I did get the chance to take a few early pictures.

November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month

Alzheimer's needs to be considered serious and all of us probably know of someone that it has touched. That is why I believe that an excellent holiday gift would be to make a donation to help find a cure for Alzheimer's. A web site has been set up to help educate each of us about this disease and to give us a way to contribute to help in the fight against it.


This is why there is a National Memory Screening Day which is a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to promote early detection of Alzheimer's disease and related illnesses, and to encourage appropriate intervention.

AFA carries out this event in collaboration with organizations and healthcare professionals across the U.S.—bringing them together for care. Participating sites offer free confidential memory screenings, as well as follow up resources and educational materials to those concerned about memory loss. Together, we hope to improve quality of life.

National Memory Screening Day is an annual event is to be held this November 13th and I would like to encourage all readers of this blog to realize the importance of memory screening for early detection of Alzheimer's disease and related illnesses.

I would like to also encourage readers to locate a memory screening location in their area for their loved ones during the month of November.

I would like to encourage everyone to spread the word about the "successful aging tips" found on the Alzheimer's Foundation of America website.

New Restaurant - Moe's - 7 Stars out of 10

WELCOME TO MOE'S - you here as you walk into the door from the entire staff in unison.

The wife and I had heard lots bout the place in Little Rock but it is now open in Conway.

The line was long and slow as the food is prepared assembly line style right before your eyes.

The food was burritos and quick Mexican. - Kind of a neat - High Class - Taco Bell.

However the food was worth the wait - it was very good and the HomeWrecker Burrito appears to die for. Yes - I believe if I had eaten that I probably would have died.

Appeared to be a big ole fat 2 lb burrito.

In All I give this one a 10. And by the way it is just about 3 doors down from New York Style Deli - who on this day had 3 cars in front and probably two of them were workers.

They were standing out front wondering how Moe's could have a long line and they didnt even have but 2 customers.

Its all in the marketing game guys!

Condor Options and Iron Condor - Options Trading Newsletter!

It is great to learn something each day. As you might derive from my blogs Arkansas - A Great Place to Live, Life in Ameirca and my alter ego Blog of Hillbilly Willy, I am aproaching what I would like to be an early retirement. The problem is everyday as I review my investments and my after retirement income - the idea seems to be slipping away.

Well, many days I am researching on the internet ways to make more money for retirement. Well today I discovered the term iron condor as it relates to investments.

What does this mean you ask:

This is n advanced options strategy that involves buying and holding four different options with different strike prices. The iron condor is constructed by holding a long and short position in two different strangle strategies. A strangle is created by buying or selling a call option and a put option with different strike prices, but the same expiration date. The potential for profit or loss is limited in this strategy because an offsetting strangle is positioned around the two options that make up the strangle at the middle strike prices.

Sounds great - but now what you ask?

Well, I have found a website called Condor Options that offers a newsletter and all that you would need to make this type of strategy happen.

Arkansas Razorbacks? - Basketball Season yet?

I have been an Arkansan for 18 years come this Thanksgiving. I thought that I could never live anyplace but Texas. However, moving to Arkansas when my daughter was in the first grade and now she is married, working and making a great young lady, gives me pride that home is where you make it and not the physical boundaries of the state.

In so making this my home, I have also adopted the passion that many have in this state for the Razorbacks. It was first basketball under Nolan Richardson, and then Football under Houston Nutt.

Well, even though I think that Houston Nutt is still an good man, I now question his coaching ability when he goes from having a great pre-season favorite team with high expectations to a mediocre team just looking to maybe get to a poor bowl game.

Yes, it becomes a crazy passion but I believe we need to fire Houston Nutt and get on with the football program.

All I can say now is bring on Basketball.

Mediocre -Razorbacks?

Well, today is a defining moment in the life of the Arkansas Razorbacks. They play South Carolina whom Darren McFadden has had an excellent career running against.

The questions today are:

1. Will Darren have another great day against this team or will he just be mediocre because he is surrounded by a mediocre team.

Will the team come together and play well and define that they really are a good team as expected at the first of the year or will they play as mediocre as they have become.

Will Houston Nutt pull out a good game and thus hush some of the naysayers or will he coach a mediocre game and be done at the end of the year.

If the Razorbacks dont show something today - it is obvious they are not going to show anything.

My guess is mediocre in most cases will shine except that the fearsom three - Hillis, Jones, and McFadden may have flashes of brilliance. Otherwise it will probably be a mediocre game and Houston wont be able to brag that "he called that play"

Stupid Stunts and Good Samaritans!

Ok you say get on with the story. Well, yesterday I was out in the country making inspections on farms for my job. This is one part of the job that I usually enjoy since I am out of the office and not behind a desk.

Well, I had completed my two inspections early and was going down the road back toward a final appointment in town to talk to a man about a loan. Appointment was not for two hours.

Well, the beautiful day and the beautiful fall colors had me mesmerized and as I stared across the country I notice way up on the hill the house of a client that I had not visited in a while.

Plenty of time I said. Think I will stop by and see Buck. Well, I drove down the narrow lane, actually a dike that sliced across a creek to make a nice pond down below his house, to a set of cattle pens where I thought I saw Bucks truck.

When I got to the end of the road, I found that Buck was not there and that the gate was locked. The only retreat was to back my truck up back down the narrow road.

You guessed it. I looked off for a second and the next thing I knew the left wheel had gotten to close to the loose gravel and I had slipped sideways off of the road.

Not too bad you say! Yes, not too bad except that there was a very steep 20 foot drop off and no way to get the truck out without pulling it. Just a little bit of a slip and my nice new truck would be rolling down the hill. It was already so steep that I could hardly get out of the truck.

Well, a call went out from my cell phone to my office to find Bucks cell number. He is always around somewhere. Sure enough I called and he was about a mile off.

To my rescue he came and without questioning my ability or my thoughts, he fired up a tractor and eased me out of the ditch - no damage done except to his tow strap.

It became so wedged into the hitch on the tractor that the only way to get undone was to cut it off. Well, I have gladly replaced his $30 tow strap and even went to a Cattlemens meeting last night that he attended.

He never said a word except to thank me for the new tow strap and insist I should not have replaced it.

Could I have been that good of a Samaritan. Probably would have at least made a little fun of the decisions. Guess I still have a ways to go!
